Honors Program Mission Statement

The mission of the Honors Program at Carroll College is "to encourage the very best students to matriculate at Carroll and to provide them with an environment which will challenge them to continued intellectual development and personal growth." The main purpose of the Honors Program is to offer mature and thoughtful students the opportunity to deal with selected subjects in depth and in serious dialogue with others. Two former members of the Carroll Board of Trustees, Grant Beutner and Franklin Buchta, generously provided the initial seed money to initiate the program. The Honors Program is administered by an Honors Committee composed of three faculty memebers appointed by the Faculty Executive Committee and representing each of the divisions (Humanities and Fine Arts, Sciences, and Social Sciences) and two student members appointed by the Student Senate. Members serve three year terms. The Program has a Director, currently Dr. Lynne Bernier.
